Ministry of natural resources and ecology approved and recommended to affix to balance coal-bed methane reserves of Taldinskoye in Kuzbass calculated by OAO “Gazprom promgaz”

RF Ministry of natural resources and ecology approved determination of the State Committee on Mineral Reserves (GKZ Rosnedra) to affix to the State balance coal-bed methane reserves of Taldinskoye coal-methane field in Kuzbass calculated by OAO “Gazprom promgaz”.
This document contains recommendation to Russian Federal Geological Fund (Rosgeolfond) to register approved reserves of methane from Taldinskoye field in the special issue of the State balance “Combustible coal-bed gas” in bulk 44.8 bln. m3 in categories C1+C2. Taldinskoye field reserves are located at the site with user license belonging to OOO “Gazprom dobycha Kuznetsk” (100% affiliate of OAO “Gazprom”).
Calculation of methane reserves as an individual commercial mineral occluded in Taldinskoye coal-bed field was done in Russia for the first time by OAO “Gazprom promgaz” in compliance with recommended guideleines. The document was developed by the Company in 2008 and recommended GKZ to apply for calculation of reserves.
OAO “Gazprom” started the project on feasibility evaluation of coal-bed methane industrial production in Kuzbass in 2003. Test works on methane recovery are implementing on three wells of Taldinskoye coal-bed field form 2004 till now.

OAO “Gazprom promgaz” is the leading scientific centre of OAO “Gazprom” in the field of substantiation of regional energy policy, gas supply, distribution and utilization, development of small fields and coal-bed methane resources.
Taldinskoye field is located in the centre of Yerunakovskiy geo-economical region of Kuznetsk Basin at the territory of Novokuznetskiy and Prokop’evskiy regions of the Kemerovo territory, 65 km north of the Novokuznetsk city.
Agreement between OAO “Gazprom”, Administration of the Kemerovo region and OOO “GPK Kyznetsk” (now OOO “Gazprom dobycha Kuznetsk”) on implementation of the project of coal-bed methane industrial production was signed in May, 2003.
In 2005 at the Taldinskoye site in Kuzbass research test site of OAO “Gazprom” on elaboration of coal-bed methane production technology was created. At the first stage of experiment OAO “Gazprom promgaz” drilled four wells from 600 till 1000 m depth. 19 hydraulic fracturing of coal seams were done. Now three wells are working as test production facilities.
The main task of research at the test site is to transfer methane resources to industrial categories reserves at the top-priority sites in Kuzbass, and development of normative and methodic documentation, working up of geological and geophysical base for industrial production project.
In March 2008 the Meeting of OAO “Gazprom” and Administration of the Kemerovo region was taken place on the issues of project implementation on coal-bed methane production at the top-priority sites in Kuzbass and 2008-2009 working plan. According to resolution of Meeting OAO “Gazprom promgaz” developed “Temporary guidelines for calculation of coal-bed methane reserves as an individual commercial mineral” and calculated methane reserves.
License to searching, exploration and production of coal-bed methane within the South-Kuzbass group of coal fields with 6.1 trillion m3 methane resources belongs to 100% Gazprom affiliate OOO “Gazprom dobycha Kuznetsk”.
