On participation of OAO Gazprom promgaz in the annual session of UNECE Committee on Sustainable Energy

The 18th annual session of UNECE Committee on Sustainable Energy “Energy Efficiency and Financial Crisis” took place in Geneva (Switzerland) from 18th to 20th of November.
The session was attended by managers and specialists in the field of strategic planning from major energy companies and governmental officials from different countries.
The discussion at the session was focused on the issue of the financial crisis impact on amount and terms of energy sector investments, the crisis influence on energy security, as well as measures taken by governments of in order to lower this impact on the energy sector and energy security.
Deputy General director of OAO Gazprom promgaz, Chairman of UNECE Working Party on Gas Mr. A. Karasevich made a presentation focused on the provisional results of three priority studies:
- current state and prospects of liquefied natural gas in UNECE region;
- underground gas storage in UNECE countries;
- impact of the liberalization of natural gas markets on gas demand and prices in the states of UNECE region: gas saving to reduce natural gas demand and enhance energy security.
Mr. Karasevich also pointed out the role of participation of WPG experts in the international forum “Week of efficient gas distribution and utilization”, at which jointly with the Russian experts there were developed practical recommendations for the federal and regional authorities of the Russian Federation.
